Community Food & Employability Programme (6-Month Programme)
Delivered by Communities First Foundation in partnership with Pret Foundation.
Overview
Our Community Food & Employability Programme is a six-month initiative that tackles food insecurity while creating meaningful pathways into employment.
We collect surplus food from local partners and redistribute it directly to individuals and families who need it most. Alongside this, we support participants to gain practical skills, achieve recognised qualifications, and build the confidence needed to move forward into training, volunteering, or work.
What We Deliver
We deliver a structured programme that combines immediate support with long-term opportunity:
· Weekly food collection and redistribution supporting over 1,000 people
· Level 2 Food Hygiene certification for all participants
· Employability and life skills training delivered through weekly sessions
· Hands-on experience in food logistics, coordination, and community delivery
· Ongoing mentoring and support to build confidence, routine, and purpose
How the Programme Works
The programme runs over six months and follows a clear journey:
Month 1 – Engagement & Onboarding Participants are welcomed into the programme, introduced to the team, and begin their initial training.
Months 2–5 – Training & Active Delivery Participants attend weekly sessions, gain their certification, and play an active role in collecting and redistributing food across the community.
Month 6 – Progression & Next Steps Participants are supported to move into volunteering, further training, or employment opportunities, with guidance and signposting tailored to their goals.
